Group targets 3.6 Million Tourists in Cebu

National Association of Independent Travel Agencies (Naitas) President and good friend of mine Consul Robert Lim Joseph said his group is aiming at bringing in 3.6 million tourists to Cebu in the near future. But Joseph clarified that this target can only be achieved if Cebu will have more five-star hotels and amenities that will surely entice tourists, especially those who have big bucks to spend while they stay here.

Sir Bobby also mentioned about tapping the help of the barangay and the various schools in promoting the culture of tourism here. By providing the barangays and schools with tourism-related materials and brochures, these people will be able to at least grasp a bird's eye view of the mathematics of tourism.

He also stressed the importance of building more five-star hotels like the Marco Polo Plaza and the Waterfront Hotels to further promote Cebu as a top destination. There is also a need to invite investors to build high-end boutiques and specialty stores in Cebu to cater to the high-class tourists.

Naitas and sir Bobby aims to bring in 3.6 million tourists to Cebu. And this target is not really very hard to achieve if Cebuanos will work together to promote a culture of tourism and ensure that tourists who come here will have nothing but good experience to share to their countrymen.
